My 'Big Baby'

My new camera’s name is ‘Baby’.

Why ‘Baby’?

It’s actually short for “Big Baby“, the name of Hellboy’s gun from the film ‘Hellboy II: The Golden Army’.

In the movie, the gun has a huge barrel and fires ridiculously large bullets.

It’s a two-handed weapon, much like my camera.

Snow Again!!!

February is the worst month for snow in Kentucky. Always!

This year is no exception.

I had a chance to run out and take picture with ‘Baby’, my new camera.

Today, the snow has been wet and heavy. There’s slush everywhere and it will all freeze over tonight.

Canon PowerShot S2 IS

A few days ago, I happened to read this post by a young woman who is in medical school. Several years ago, she took some wonderful photos during a charity trip with her school to Sichuan province in China.

The camera she used was a Canon PowerShot S2 IS.

I was so inspired by her photos that I found  the same model of camera on Amazon.com and bought it!

It’s used and a little outdated, so I got it for a good price!

EDIT: It came today!!!!

I’ve been looking over my kimonos, trying to decide which outfit to wear to the exhibit opening.

Even if I don’t win anything, I don’t care. I want to look my best regardless!

Anna Belle has been overseeing my selection process. You know… She’s very judgmental of me! She seems to strongly disapprove of certain combinations. Watching me so closely, I’m wondering now what her past life was.  Regardless, she’s a very funny creature.

So far, I think I have the outfit together.

I wanted a new obi-dome (帯留), so I bought this cloisonné brooch to use.

What’s the word for it? “Re-purpose”? Once you state that something is for use with kimono, no matter what it is… the price will triple. This brooch isn’t a real obi-dome, but only I will know that. It looks just like a true obi-dome, but it’s a vintage Chinese handicraft.

I’ve also purchased a new hair ornament. I’ve never owned handmade tsumami kanzashi. Now, I do! An American woman makes these on the Etsy handmade goods website. Her shop is called ‘Hanami Gallery’.

I also bought this one to wear in the future. It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen!

I wish I could wear kimono more often.

Other than looking outrageous and out-of-place, its just not practical for everyday.

My favorite koshihimo for kimono dressing.
